Material History

Turkish Lavender Jadeite History/Information:

This bead is made from the Turkish lavender jadeite. Known to be less pure than the required 80% pure to be called Jadeite, this material ranges from near 80% to below 50% jadeite. It is known to be mixed with quartz and other minerals. The color is always a pleasing lavender with only slightly translucent.

Turkish Purple Jade, also known as Turkiyenite, has been used as a modern gemstone since the 80s. The base colors run from gray-purple to rich deep purple, with various mottling. These color variations, along with deep green dots and red streaks, provide an interesting canvas that highlights the gem’s characteristic patterns. Occasionally, you can find bold specks of green and orange along with other attractive variations. Ours beautifully display the preferred, rich-mottled-purples in a highly-desirable range of medium to medium-dark saturations (strength of color) and tones (lightness or darkness of color), the marketplace ideal.

Turkish Purple Jade is optimally cut ‘en cabochon’ (cut in convex form and highly polished, but not faceted) to accentuate the signature color mottling that makes each gemstone visually unique. Expertly cut by experienced lapidaries in the legendary gemstone country of Thailand (Siam), home to some of the world’s best gem-cutters, Turkish Purple Jade is carefully cut into attractive smooth domes with a desirable proportion, shape, and symmetry, also maintaining a superior mirror-like polish, affording an excellent luster.

About

Proud to say one of my specialties at Jadedivers.com is making one of kind custom beads found almost no where in the world. Most of my beads are going to have cone tapered ends that are deburred and polished. My photos are taken to show the natural colors without photo enhancements. I believe this will best represent the colors and promote repeat customers.

** Note: Many items stated to be "Jade" on Etsy and Ebay are not. In many cases, price does not indicate this either so buying an expensive item may be a jade replica like glass. There are many other stones including agate, grossular garnet, serpentine (many forms), aventurine... being sold as jade. To make it worse and more complicated, many jadeite stones are being reconditioned and died to be very attractive so they pass general tests to be real. If you see  very clear bangles, odds are they are agate, glass or something else. If you see very bright colors of red, yellow, purple... most likely not real. I say this as many buyers are being fooled on-line by these practices.
