Guatemalan Jadeite Ring-19.29mm #2
$150,00
Jade rings can be made in many ways. Some simple, some elegant and unique. I meticulously handcraft all rings with a goal in mind depending on various ideas the stone may motivate. I typically use the natural beauty of the stone properties for strength (direction of grain) and colors within and rind variations.
This ring is made from light blue jadeite from Guatemala. In Guatemala, this material is called "Princessa". The ring is a squared off outside shape with soft tapered inside for comfortable wear. The colors are really nice light blue with white cloads and some wonderful yellow/orange contrast.

Material History
Olmec blue jade history:
Scholars searched for half a century to find the prized blue jadeite of the Olmecs and Mayan’s. It was re-discovered in 2002 after the local hurricane devastated the local forests and people which exposed the jadeite veins in 1998. This jadeite material rivals the best from Myanmar, formerly Burma. The Olmecs of the pre-Columbian era considered this jade more valuable than gold. It is believed that the Olmecs believed that the blue jade is most prized and the kings and their families were always buried with it for acceptance into the next life.
